Europeans and Americans are equally positive about the potential of new technologies, according to UNICE's benchmarking report, with nearly three-quarters of the population on either side of the Atlantic believing that such advances bring benefits to society.

However, more than half of all Europeans fear that some new technologies pose a serious danger to health, safety or the environment, compared to just 38&percent; of Americans.

Researchers concluded that this means that in general, Americans are likely to embrace new technologies and related products and services much earlier than their European counterparts.
