The UK's National Audit Office issued a report, 'Lost in translation? Responding to the challenges of European Law', on 26 May 2005 on the performance of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The report discusses the difficulties in transposing European Union law into national legislation. DEFRA, responsible for implementing about 30% of legislation coming from the EU, is performing better than previously.
