The vote to trigger Article 7 against Hungary on the 12 of September 2018, created division within the largest party of the European Parliament. The European People’s Party (EPP) is a Christian Democrats centre-right party that hots members from contrasting sides of this political spectrum. The growing populism and Euroscepticism within the EPP member parties has led to a wide division among the central and right members of the party.
