Don’t turn your backs on us, leaders of the former Yugoslavia plead with Brussels

Authors suggest that upheaval over the Constitutional Treaty may leave the Balkans nations disappointed. Following the negative referendums in France and the Netherlands on the European Constitution, which cast new doubt over the EU's enlargement plans, Balkan leaders on 2 June 2005 urged the European Union to confirm its commitment to enlarging into the former Yugoslavia.
