Summary: Draft amending budget No 2/2019 presented on 15 May 2019 by the European Commission aimed at reinforcing two key programmes for EU competitiveness, Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+. Further information: Following up on the agreement between the European Parliament and the Council on the EU's 2019 budget, the European Commission proposed on 15 May 2019 to add €100 million to the EU's flagship programmes Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+. Out of the additional €100 million, €80 million were allocated to climate-related research under Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme. The remaining €20 million was allocated to support the EU's Erasmus+ programme. The Council of the European Union's position on the draft amendment was published on 3 September. The European Parliament's plenary session approved the proposed amendment to the annual budget on 18 September. |
