Drugs body to target reticent companies

The European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA) is to 'name and shame' pharmaceutical companies if they do not publicise information about side-effects of new drugs once they have been launched. The move reflects growing anxiety both in Europe and the United States about the lack of surveillance of new medicines during their first months on the market when unforeseen side-effects can emerge.
