The Dutch government took the unusual step on the 29 February 2008 of publicly distancing itself from an unreleased film about the Koran by an anti-Islamic MP, saying the project threatened the safety of Dutch citizens abroad. On the 6 March 2008 The Netherlands raised its national risk level of a terrorist attack to 'substantial', ahead of the release of a short film critical of the Quran produced by populist far-right politician Geert Wilders. |
