Antonio Mugica was the CEO of Smartmatic, a London-based company working in the field of electronic voting and internet voting. He spoke to EurActiv’s Laurens Cerulus and the interview was published on the 1 August 2014.

More and more governments were introducing tools to have citizens vote electronically and via the internet in elections. The next step, according to the e-democracy entrepreneur, Antonio Mugica, was creating tools for people to engage with lawmakers on a daily basis.

Estonia already had a internet voting system for the past ten years. Mr. Mugica stated that Estonia was the most successful internet voting experience he had seen in the world.
