Fierce resistance to any European government intervention in the running of EADS, the aerospace and defence group that controls Airbus, was promised 20 Jukly 2006 by Manfred Bischoff, the German co-chairman of the troubled company. His warning comes amid signs that France, the UK and Spain are seeking to increase their influence on the group, which has been shaken by management turmoil, bitter power struggles and industrial problems at its flagship Airbus subsidiary.
