EBA hails banks’ capital strengthening

The European Banking Auhority (EBA) hailed their december 2011 exercise to force the continent’s banks to buttress themselves with fresh capital as a resounding success on the 11 July 2012, revealing 27 banks deemed to have a capital shortfall of €76bn in the autumn of 2011 raised a combined €94.4bn by the end of the June 2012 deadline.
