The current EU framework for electronic communications (eCommunications) is a single, common set of rules for for all communications that are transmitted electronically, whether wireless or fixed, data or voice, Internet-based or circuit switched, broadcast or personal. These rules are designed to stimulate competition and create opportunities for innovative companies. They led to a virtuous circle leading to lower prices and a wider range of products and services for the consumer. Entering into force in July 2003, the regulatory framework will undergo its first regular review in 2006. |
