Summary:

A meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) was held on 17 January 2023. The agenda includes the following items:

• Presentation by the Swedish Council Presidency on its work programme in relevant areas;
• Exchange of views on the economic and financial impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine;
• Update from the European Commission on the economic and financial situation in Ukraine and the implementation of the EU's macro-financial assistance (MFA) to Ukraine;
• Adoption of an amending Implementing Decision as regards the recovery and resilience plan (NRRP) of Luxembourg;
• Launch of the annual European Semester process:
  • Adoption of conclusions on the 2023 Alert Mechanism Report;
  • Adoption of conclusions on the 2023 Annual Sustainable Growth Survey;
  • Adoption of draft Recommendation on the economic policy of the Euro area.
