Economy on song as govt boosts surplus

The Ifo index of business confidence in Germany for August 2015 showed that the German economy, Europe's biggest, stood rock solid in the surrounding stormy global economic seas, with growth picking up, confidence on the rise and its public finances firmly in the black.

In addition, Germany's Federal Statistics Office, Destatis, confirmed on the 25 August 2015 its previous flash estimate of 0.4% economic growth between April and June 2015 in Germany.
