Summary:

A meeting of the Youth, Culture and Sports Council was held on 8 November 2019. On this occasion, the meeting focused on matters relating to Education. The agenda includes the following items:

• Exchange of views on the importance of human capital as the foundation of Europe's welfare, based on a discussion paper from the Council Presidency;
• Debate on early childhood education and care;
• Adoption of conclusions on the role of lifelong learning policies in empowering societies to address the technological and green transition in support of inclusive and sustainable growth;
• Adoption of Resolution on further developing the European Education Area;
• Discussion on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and training, based on a discussion paper from the Council Presidency;
• Briefing from the Slovenian delegation on a proposal to establish the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI);
• Presentation by the incoming Croatian Council Presidency of its work programme in the area of education.
