EIB and microfinance in the African, Caribbean and Pacific regions

The relevance of microfinance – that is the supply of loans, savings and other basic financial services to the poor – to alleviate poverty
is nowadays widely recognised. Over the years, the European Investment Bank has developed knowledge and expertise in the field of microfinance in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) regions where it currently operates under the Cotonou Partnership Agreement.
