Electoral body advises against euro referendum next spring

The (UK) Electoral Commission warned on 12 July 2002 that 'significant confusion' would be caused to voters if a referendum on the euro were to be combined with local council elections on 1 May 2003. The advice makes Autumn 2003 a more likely date for a referendum.
