The European Commissioner for regional policy, Danuta Hübner, addressed the Baltic Development Forum held on 1 December 2008. This was seen as a good opportunity for representatives of the Baltic governments, business and academia to discuss the European Commission's plans for a Baltic Sea Region Strategy. The public consultation period had been launched in September. The Baltic Development Forum is an independent non-profit networking organisation, whose members include large companies, major cities, investors and business associations from across the region, which covers 11 countries and 100 million inhabitants. |
