Ethics scandal forces out Monti technocrat

Italy’s new technocratic government under Mario Monti was forced to deal quickly with its first ethics scandal in January 2012 with the resignation of a junior minister Carlo Malinconico, who accepted paid holidays in a luxury Tuscan hotel while serving under a previous centre-left administration.
