Summary: The European Commission highlighted on 10 December 2019 the full mobilisation of the €6 billion allocated to the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey, in line with its commitment to the implementation of the EU-Turkey Statement. Further information: The Facility is a key component of the EU-Turkey Statement from 2016 and aims to provide assistance to refugees and host communities in the areas of basic needs, education, health, socio-economic support, protection and municipal infrastructure. The Facility provides a joint coordination mechanism, designed to ensure that the needs of refugees and host communities are addressed in a comprehensive and coordinated manner. Out of the total Facility budget of €6 billion, €4.3 billion had been contracted and €2.7 billion disbursed, according to the European Commission. The announcement came following the thirteen Steering Committee meeting of the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey. |
