EU grants Sri Lanka improved access to its market as incentive for reform

The European Union removed a significant part of the remaining import duties on Sri Lankan products from 19 May 2017. This was in exchange for the country's commitment to effectively implement 27 international conventions that it had ratified on human rights, labour conditions, protection of the environment and good governance.
