Book abstract:

The EU Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium continue developing their very useful series of publications with a new title 'EU guide to the digital economy 2003'. The aim of this volume is to provide a detailed overview of the progress made within the different areas of the information society. Individual chapters cover: eEurope 2005; Infrastructure regulation; e-Commerce Regulation; Content and IPR Regulation; Funding programmes. These chapters outline concise details of current and forthcoming legislation in these areas (with bibliographical details).

In addition, there are chapters providing contact details of relevant officials, committees and departments within the European Commission and European Parliament, and also within appropriate NGOs. There is a substantial country-by-country analysis of the state of affairs in the field of the digital economy, plus a comparative analysis of the situation in the United States. Finally, there is a chapter on how digital economy issues are being dealt with in international organisations and other fora.
