The Council welcomed the successful implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the two sides and confirmed the mutual interest in consolidating the relationship and cooperation.

There was also a discussion on political, judicial and economic reforms, trade and economic relations. The meeting addressed the issues of good governance, human rights protection and civil society cooperation. It underlined that legitimate security measures necessary for fighting terrorism must respect individual rights and freedoms. The Cooperation Council also welcomed positive developments in the Central Asian regional cooperation.

A meeting of the Cooperation Council between Kazakhstan and the European Union was held on 26 February 2018.
