EU policies a mixed blessing

Article forms part of Energy and Utiltity Review. The European Commission is planning to introduce proposals for the full liberalision of the European gas market in the spring of 2001. However, the EU is having to pursue some EU states for failing to turn the current directive into national legislation and the industry itself also wants more time to digest the diretive before being asked to go further down the path to full liberalisation.
