EU preparing to charge Gazprom in antitrust case

The European Commissioner Joaquin Almunia, EU's antitrust chief, said on the 3 October 2013 that EU regulators were preparing to charge Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom with abusing its dominant position in central and eastern Europe, in a move that could lead to a fine of up to €11 billion.
