The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced on 7 December 2019 a boost to the European Union's cooperation with Ethiopia, in her first official visit outside the EU.

Further information:

A support package worth €170 million was allocated to support the country in undertaking a series of economic reforms, in implementing a series of measures relating to health, accountability and transparency, political engagement and improving business climate.
