The Council of the European Union reached by unanimity, 29 May 2006 at a Internal Market, Industry and Research Council (Belgium and Lithuania abstaining), in public deliberation, a political agreement on the draft directive on services in the internal market. The Council will adopt its common position at one of its forthcoming meetings after finalisation of the text and will forward it to the European Parliament for a second reading.
