On the 25 September 2016, a fact sheet was released by the European Commission on the current state of relations between the European Union and Switzerland. Thanks to its geographical location, Switzerland is EU's third largest economic partner and also over a million Union's citizens live or work there. The further cooperation has been suspended since the Swiss referendum on mass immigration, which took place on the 9 February 2014.
