EU to review drugs rules amid concern about fakes

The European Commission has launched studies to investigate whether regulations should be tightened to tackle the sale of counterfeit medicines. Günther Verheugen, the EU Industry Commissioner, wants to to assess whether efforts to cut red tape and restrict the introduction of fresh regulations were outweighed by a need to prevent counterfeit medicines and medical devices.
