EU to take pragmatic line on Chinese trade

The European Union Trade Commissioner, Pascal Lamy, said on 4 December 2001 that the EU would seek to avoid using formal World Trade Organisation procedures to resolve disputes arising with China, opting instead for a strategy of co-operation and discreet discussions.
