Peter Mandelson’s criticisms of China for failing to play by international trade rules, October 2007, are unhelpful and counterproductive, according to a group of business executives from the UK financial services industry who were touring the country at the time. Mr Mandelson, European Trade Commissioner, had sent a letter to José Manuel Barroso, the Commission President. Mr Mandelson had said the EU’s trading relationship with China was 'deeply unequal' and 'the Chinese juggernaut is, to some extent, out of control'. |
