Eurogroup meeting, 11 September 2020

Summary:

A meeting of the Eurogroup was held on 11 September 2020. Once again it met in its regular format as well as in its inclusive format. The agenda included the following items:

• Exchange of views on the economic situation in the Eurozone;
• Review of policy action at national and European level;
• Briefing on the recovery needs facing economies following the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic;
• Exchange of views on the national fiscal policy response as well as on the fiscal stance for the following year;
• Discussion on political economy factors on introduction of reforms and deployment of resources in the context of recovery, based on technical note by the European Commission;
• Update on ongoing work on strengthening the Banking Union:
  • European Deposit Insurance Scheme (EDIS);
  • Financial stability;
  • Crisis management;
  • Enhanced cross-border financial integration;
• Discussion on the reform of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).
