Eurogroup meeting, 4 December 2019

Summary:

A meeting of the Eurogroup was held on 4 December 2019. Once again it met in its regular format as well as in its inclusive format. The agenda includes the following items:

• Discussion on the 4th enhanced surveillance report on Greece;
• Briefing on the main findings of the post-surveillance missions to Cyprus and Spain;
• Discussion on the budgetary situation and prospects in the Eurozone and its countries, based on the European Commission's Opinions on national drafts budgetary plans (DBPs) for 2020 and on the Communication relating to the overal assessment of those DBPs;
• Adoption of the Eurogroup's work programme for the first half of 2020;
• Re-appointment of Hans Vijlbrief as President of the Eurogroup Working Group (EWG).

The Eurogroup also prepared a Report for the Euro Summit held later in the month, focusing on the package of legal documents related to the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), the completion of the Banking Union and the agreement on a budgetary instrument for convergence and competitiveness (BICC).
