Eurogroup meeting, 8 July 2019

Summary:

A meeting of the Eurogroup was held on 8 July 2019. Once again it met in its regular format as well as in its inclusive format. The agenda includes the following items:

• Discussion on the third enhanced surveillance report on Greece;
• Discussion on the budgetary situation in the Eurozone, focusing on the prospects for the following year;
• Presentation by the European Commission of the budgetary situation, based on the analysis of the 2019 Stability Programmes and its Spring economic forecast;
• Briefing on the main findings of the 11th post-programme surveillance mission to Spain;
• Briefing on the consultations and economic analysis undertaken as regards the international role of the Euro currency;
• Briefing on the European Commission's Decision in the context of fiscal surveillance for Italy;
• Discussion on the follow-up to the latest Euro Summit.

In the marging of the Eurogroup meeting, there was a discussion relating to Croatia's intention to join the European Union's Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II).
