Book abstract:

This is the sixth edition of this highly regarded standard work on the acronyms, abbreviations and sobriquets used by and about the European Union. This edition attempts to bring together those used within the context of the European Union (EU) and has around 4000 definitions, some 1000 more than in the 5th edition published in 1997.

EUROJARGON explains the meaning of the acronym, abbreviation or sobriquet used across the EU to identify European projects, schemes and agencies in order to avoid the problem of translation. Entries are arranged in alphabetical order and it is unique in that it cites source references to official texts, postal addresses and URLs where appropriate.

This reference work is aimed at a wide range of users, such as specialist consultants in EU information, academics, documentalists, librarians, journalists, local authority staff, civil servants, economists and politicians. This edition has been published in a hardback cover suitable for extensive personal or library use.

Anne Ramsay is a widely recognised expert on European documentation. She has written and lectured extensively on the subject and is a Fellow of the Library Association.
