HM Treasury also published on the 30 April 2018 UK Convergence Programme 2017-18. This document contained details of the UK’s economic and fiscal situation and forecasts for 2017-18 as required by the European Union.

The content of the 2017-18 Convergence Programme was based on the Autumn Budget 2017 and Spring Statement 2018, combined with the Office for Budget Responsibility’s 2018 Economic and fiscal outlook.

The Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union required all EU member states to annually report on their economies and public finances to the European Commission.

The UK was required to submit a Convergence Programme to the Commission as part of the Stability and Growth Pact.
The United Kingdom Finance Ministry (HM Treasury) published on the 30 April 2018 a corporate report Europe 2020: UK National Reform Programme 2018.

The 2018 UK National Reform Programme set out actions that the government was taking to address structural reform challenges facing the UK, in line with a set of country-specific recommendations endorsed by Heads of State or government at the European Council in June 2017.

European Union member states submit a National Reform Programme before the end of April each year, as part of the European Semester, a reporting cycle that brings together information on fiscal and structural policies for all member states.
