Report says that European officials were weighing up on the 6 June 2012 a bailout programme for Spain that would aid its fragile domestic banking sector while imposing only 'very limited conditionality' on Madrid, a concession that could make a reluctant Spanish government more willing to accept international assistance.

The Spanish government would request the activation of a European rescue plan on the 9 June 2012 in order to recapitalize its banks, Reuters reported on the 8 June 2012, citing two official EU sources and another source from the German government.
