Article says that the UK Government is coming under pressure, November 2008, to back a plan that could see many millions of pounds pumped into the Welsh economy in the short term. On the 26 November 2008 the European Commission announced detailed proposals for an EU-wide Recovery Plan aimed at stimulating the economy in member states. Included in the announcement was a proposal that the spending of so-called structural funds like the £1.4bn Convergence aid programme for West Wales and the Valleys could be brought forward.
