European Commission proposal on speed limiters. State of play on amended proposal: 22 August 2002

The European Commission has proposed a Directive extending the existing requirement for top-speed limiters to trucks down to 3.5 tonnes maximum permitted weight, and to minibuses and midi-coaches with seats for more than 8 passengers in addition to the driver, irrespective of weight. The proposed top-speeds are 90 km/hour for the goods vehicles included and 100 km/hour for the passenger vehicles included.
