European Council, 29-30 October 2009

This European Council summit was held on 29-30 October 2009, in Brussels. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Adoption of the European Union's common position with regard to the forthcoming Copenhagen Conference on climate change;

+ Information on the EU's economic, financial and employment situation, stressing the need to prepare a coordinated strategy for exiting from broad-based stimulus policies when recovery is secured;

+ Adoption of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region;

+ State of play regarding the implementation of measures relating to illegal immigration, calling for further efforts to be made, namely in the enhancement of Frontex;

+ Discussion on the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
