European Court of Human Rights

This report on the case law of the European Court of Human Rights (hereinafter, the Court) deals with the case law from January 1999 to December 1999. During the present period of study, the Court delivered 177 judgements. The object of these periodic reports is not to summarize all the judgements which have been delivered during a particular period, but instead to focus upon those judgements which deal with central issues of public law. The new post Protocol 11, Court also has the function of deciding on the admissibility of applications. The availability of space for this report in the journal rules out analyzing the large number of admissibility decisions.
