Elections to the European Parliament were held across the 27 states of the European Union between 4 and 7 June 2009. The UK now has 72 MEPs, down from 78 at the last election, distributed between 12 regions. Turnout across the EU was 43%. Part 1 of this paper presents the full results for the UK, including regional analysis and local-level data. Part 2 presents summary results for the EU, together with country-level summaries based on data from official national sources |
