	Summary: Anna Diamantopoulou, Member of the Commission responsible for Employment and Social Affairs, signed a decision on 28 March 2001 approving the new EQUAL Community Initiative programme in Italy, covering the period 2001-2006. Under this programme, the European Social Fund (ESF) makes available EUR 394.4 million to try out new ways and means of combating discrimination and inequality in terms of employment.
