European Social Fund: The Commissioner approves the Equal Programme aimed at boosting equality on Greece’s labour market

Summary:

The Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs Anna Diamantopoulou signed on 15 March 2001 the decision approving the new programme under the Community's 'Åqual' Initiative for 2000-2006. The European Social Fund monies being made available under the Programme, and earmarked for combating discrimination and inequality on the job market, come to Euro 104.1 million. The total budget of the Greek programme amounts to Euro 138.8 million, of which Euro 34.7 million is public funding from the Greek authorities and Euro 104.1 million from the European Union.
