Summary:

This article discusses European public law or also called European social law or European labour law. The article aims to explore whether the analytical and descriptive framework of European public law has the necessary coherence and independence for European social and labour law to be considered as an autonomous legal discipline.

The article tests the following hypothesis: European social law in general, and European labour law in particular, are increasingly affected by a specific and complex dynamic of ‘Europeanization’ that is placing under serious strain the internal coherence of these two interconnected fields of European law.
