European Union Law, 3rd ed

The latest in the Nutshell series from Sweet and Maxwell, this book provides a clear and concise overview of European Union law. Primarily aimed at students of EU law the book is geared towards preparing students for examinations by highlighting the key cases and statutes of those areas of law most commonly tested.

Following a basic introduction to the EU institutions, the book details sources of community law and looks at the interplay between EC and national law. Four areas of EC law are given particular attention in individual chapters, they are: the free movement of goods; competition policy; the free movement of workers; the freedom of establishment and the freedom to provide services; and sex discrimination. A chapter on the Treaty of European Union details the changes incorporated at Maastricht and also the key decisions taken at Amsterdam The final discussion of the book examines the role of the EU in human rights law.

A useful section at the back of the book provides the reader with an examination checklist and a section of sample questions and model answers.
