This book examines the impact of Europeanization on the domestic politics of EU member states, focussing on agricultural policy, cohesion policy and employment policy with a detailed case study on Italy in a comparative perspective. Graziano provides a detailed analysis of the evolution of Italy-EU relationship from both an institutional and a policy-oriented perspective, adopting the Europeanization. Divided into three parts:

Part 1 outlines the analytical framework and the first stages of European Integration (1958-1992), before the European Union has played an increasing role in exercising pressures for domestic change.

Part 2 focuses on 1992-2008 and provides a comparative assessment of the different Europeanization patterns. It also examines three policy areas (cohesion, employment and agricultural policy) where the role of European institutions and policies has been differentiated but nevertheless quite significant.

Part 3 summarize the research findings and compare them with other findings regarding the recent evolution of the Italian political system.
