The Committee of European Banking Supervisors, the umbrella body for banking regulation across the EU, concluded its discussions in London on the 7 October 2010 on new guidelines for bank bonuses. New draft guidelines were issued on the 8 October 2010. They are likely to force a fundamental rethink of how banks are structured. EurActiv claims in its article that the proposal would create the world's toughest and most far-reaching curbs on bonuses.
