Europe’s Black Sea Dimension

The Organisation for Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) brings together one of the most diverse regions in the world. Formed following the end of the Cold War from two opposing political and military blocs, the BSEC serves as an exemplary model of the spirit it takes to overcome differences and to jointly make progress.

The prospect of EU enlargement in the area in combination with the readiness of BSEC member states for close collaboration with Europe merits serious attention. In this report, some of the crucial policy areas for the region (including energy and environment) are set against a strategy for the wider European architecture.
