Eurozone recovery in ‘infancy’

In its first Quarterly Report on the Euro Area (March 2002), the European Commission said that economic recovery in the eurozone was 'still in its infancy' and could be jeopardised by higher oil prices. Such considerations could make it less likely that the European Central Bank will increase interest rates.
