Eve of Election: A Fractured Ukraine, United in Uncertainty

Preview features of the parliamentary elections held in Ukraine on the 26 October 2014.

As the Ukrainian election approached in October 2014, citizens were both hopeful and skeptical about their country's future.

According to Der Spiegel, their biggest concern was not the war in the east or Russian interference - it was the country's need for a working state.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk warned on 23 October of possible attempts by Russia to disrupt the parliamentary election in Ukraine, and ordered a full security mobilisation to prevent 'terrorist acts' being carried out.
